Hello Kitty Around Town

Going around Tokyo, it’s almost impossible not to see “Hello Kitty,” the most recognizable Sanrio character, in one form or another. Her presence was so pervasive during my June 2010 trip that I decided to just snap away whatever “Hello Kitty” product or advertisement presented itself in front of me.

This page is dedicated to all the fans of the popular feline. Enjoy!

On my way to the Ueno Train Station, I saw this very tall poster (billboard?) in front of the entrance of a mall. "Samantha Thavasa" is a line of women's bags.

Kagurazaka-dori, Kagurazaka - I was on my way to the "ryokan" I was staying at when I saw this sign: a drawing of Hello Kitty with a "shamisen."

Shinjuku - Hello Kitty "kokemaru." I'm not sure what "kokemaru" means. Perhaps it has something to do with plants as I saw these in a flower shop. The display had happily spilled over to the sidewalk.

  2. Hi,

My name is KC Owens; I’m a college student who loves to travel! While cruising the Internet, I found Posts and Pens and really enjoyed reading your posts. Personally, I think traveling is a necessary part of life as you’re exposed to all sorts of new cultures and experiences. While enjoying time abroad, I’ve found it’s crucial to fully understand the dangers that you might encounter along the way. These mishaps are part of life and certainly part of travel but it’s always a great idea to take preventive measures to help ensure your safety while abroad.

I was hoping that you would allow me to write a post for your site to share my travel safety tips with your readers? I put a lot of time and passion into my traveling and I would love to help others by offering safety advice as a result of the mistakes and triumphs I’ve had. I look forward to hearing from you!

    Best,

    KC Owens

    1. Hi KC,

First off, I’m glad you enjoyed the “Hello Kitty” post. I’ve outgrown the cute feline, but I couldn’t ignore her presence during my last visit to Tokyo. 

You’re welcome to write a guest post for my site! Do you have a blog or other contact information? Make sure to include those in your guest post so people can reach out to you once we’ve published your article. Feel free to include photos. I often re-size mine to 550 for both width and height.

Please let me know if you have other questions. I look forward to your guest post, KC!

      Have a great Thursday,

      Posts and Pens
